Reading in Lewes on Thursday

Just a quick reminder that I'll be reading at Needlewriters in Lewes this coming Thursday, 17th January, at 7.45p.m.. The venue is upstairs at the John Harvey Tavern and tickets are five pounds. I'll be appearing alongside Ansy Boothroyd and Janet Sutherland, and I'm especially looking forward to hearing Janet read from her new collection, Home Farm.

Robin Houghton has kindly sent me this flyer for the event:

Reading at Needlewriters in Lewes in January

A date for your diary once we get the festivities out of the way: I'll be reading at Needlewriters in Lewes on 17th January at 7.45p.m.. The venue is upstairs at the John Harvey Tavern and tickets are five pounds. I'll be appearing alongside Ansy Boothroyd and Janet Sutherland, which should make for an interesting blend of voices. This will be my first chance to discover Ansy's work, but I've long admired Janet's poetry.

Needlewriters in Lewes this Thursday

Just a gentle reminder that I'll be reading as a guest poet at Needlewriters in Lewes this Thursday (7 p.m. for 7.45 p.m.). I've been looking forward to this event for a long time, so it's difficult to believe the day has almost arrived! Here are a few more details:

Needlewriters is a co-operative of poets and prose writers who present a reading each quarter at the Needlemakers Café in Lewes, showcasing writers in a lovely venue. Food and drink are available throughout the evening from the café.

On this occasion, I'll be reading alongside Ros Barber (who'll be featuring her prose) and poet Caroline Clark. I'll be bringing along copies of both my HappenStance pamphlets for sale, but this will be one of the last chances to get hold of a copy, as Inventing Truth is already officially sold out and Tasting Notes is well on the way.

The Needlewriters anthology launch

Tonight sees the launch of the online anthology The Needlewriters Companion and its sister publication, in print, The Needlewriters (Frogmore Press) at The Needlewriters Café in Lewes. Entry is free and there'll be short readings by several of the featured poets such as Liz Bahs, Clare Best, Charlotte Gann, Robin Houghton, Judith Kazantzis, Alice Owens, Jeremy Page, Janet Sutherland, Kay Syrad and Irving Weinman. You can find more details about the event here.

The print version will be available to buy at the reading. After the reading it will be available (post free) from The Frogmore Press (21 Mildmay Road, Lewes BN7 1PJ) and from Skylark Bookshop, The Needlemakers, Lewes at £10. The online version is on The Needlewriters website here.

I wish I could make it along, but at least I have the consolation of having work in both versions of the anthology and the prospect of giving a reading myself at The Needlwriters this coming October. I'm already looking forward to it!
